St. Clair County Intermediate School District is pleased to offer its first Summer Writing Institute in cooperation with the Oakland Writing Project. This institute is dedicated to the principle that exemplary teachers of writing, model and use writing themselves. This institute will deepen your knowledge of writing and include you in a long term learning community of teachers as writers.
We will meet on the shores of Lake Huron at the Lake Huron Retreat Center:
- A secluded place of peace and serenity
- A place for study, conversation, growth, and inspiration
- A place for walks along the lake, sitting quietly, listening to the wind
- A place for writing
Each day we will live as writers by:
- Talking like writers
- Listening like writers
- Noticing like writers
- Reading like writers
- Writing like writers English
To Register: Follow your district’s procedure for registration before contacting the ISD. Many districts have requirements for registration, sub coverage and fee reimbursement. Check with your building principal for the proper procedure. After receiving district approval, mail or fax your registration form to the ISD, Program Registration. Programs are designed for St. Clair County educators. If specific workshops are funded with grants designated for St. Clair County, out-of-county residents may incur additional fees. If registrations exceed program limits, priority will be given to St. Clair County educators.
