Customized District Workshops

Many teacher-leaders, curriculum directors and administrators seek cost-effective ways to make long-term systemic change. Our teacher-consultants (TC’s) can customize workshops to meet a district’s specific content needs, helping teachers to grow their own practices.

Some of our customized workshops have focused on the following topics:

  • Beginning a Writer’s Workshop
  • Beginning a Reader’s Workshop
  • Preparing Mini-Lessons
  • Learning to Read and Apply MEAP Rubrics
  • Generating Great Student Writing
  • Rediscovering American Literature
  • Enhancing Lifelong Literacy through Literary Circles
  • Using portfolios as a means of assessment

We created each of these workshops based on a district’s need for teacher education. Sometimes a district has requested a specific topic. Other times they’ve identified learning goals and then worked with a TC to determine a workshop’s focus.

In past workshops, teachers have appreciated the time to learn and grow together. This shared time has laid the foundation for teachers to support one another while implementing new techniques in their classrooms.

Workshop length varies from half a day to several weeks depending on the district’s needs. In addition, some districts choose to hire TC’s to model classroom lessons as well as to follow up with teachers throughout the school year.
